Connect to Excel/Power BI

Overview

Tube2Sheet enables you to connect your YouTube data in Google Sheets to Power BI and Excel for advanced analysis and visualization.

Why use Tube2Sheet instead of connecting Power BI / Excel directly to the YouTube API?

  1. OAuth Support: Power BI and Excel do not support OAuth authorization when connecting to the YouTube APIs. Tube2Sheet establishes an OAuth connection to the YouTube APIs which gives you access to data that requires "authorized requests" to access. Power BI and Excel can only access the APIs via the API key authentication method, which is limited to accessing public data ("non-authorized requests").

  2. No worries about API quota: Accessing the YouTube APIs is quota-restricted, so a private user is limited to a certain number of requests per day. With Tube2Sheet you do not have to worry about the API quota.

  3. No Coding Needed: Tube2Sheet eliminates the need to code API requests manually. Create your requests comfortably in the sidebar.

Set up scheduled data refreshes in Tube2Sheet to keep your Power BI reports current without manual intervention. After an initial setup of the data request, you can consume the data purely in Power BI if desired.

Connection Process

  1. Use the 'Power BI / Excel Connect' feature in Tube2Sheet to create PowerQuery code that you can paste into Power BI or Excel.

  2. Power BI / Excel establishes a live connection to your Google Spreadsheet using PowerQuery.

  3. Set up data refresh scheduling in Tube2Sheet - Power BI will fetch the latest data from your sheet on each data refresh.
